Chad Cowan > May 29, 2009 - Staccato lightning - somewhere in Texas, about a 7-iron north of Mexico.
My best lightning shot. Ever. Note how there is a thin bright line above the dark horizon, that is the terrain behind the bolt being lit up.
Chad Cowan > Tuttle Creek Reservoir Dam - Manhattan, KS
This is one of my first lightning shots, taken before I had a tripod. I would set my cheap camera to a long exposure setting, plant it on the hood of my Explorer, hold my breath and push the button. This is what I like to call a 'happy-accident'.
Chad Cowan > August 4, 2008 - Chicago, IL
Mesovortex spins over downtown
Chad Cowan > May 15 - eastern Kansas photo
Chad Cowan > 2/24/07 - Kansas City, MO
Chad Cowan > Rotation tightens (note how vertical the right side is compared to the last shot) as a clear slot becomes evident to the left. There may be a tornado in this shot, in the middle of the wall cloud, but again, I'm enjoying the structure too far away from the base to have a definitive answer.
Chad Cowan > May 13, 2009 - Kirksville, MO
Wall cloud on a tornadic supercell, there may be a rain wrapped tornado somewhere back in there on the left
Chad Cowan > May 13, 2009 - east of Kirksville, MO after the tornado became rain-wrapped
Chad Cowan > Brule, Wisconsin
